Loud music echoes through the conference hall. The audience of three thousand people jump, scream, and dance. Onstage, a lone performer shouts to the crowd. Concert lights flash to the beat of the music.
This is not your typical English class.
Author A.J. Hoge has attained rockstar-like status with his unique teaching methods. His teaching system, "Effortless English”, is a high energy approach to English language education.
The energy and fun are what first stand out when attending an Effortless English event. But it’s all for a purpose, according to Hoge. "We create an active, high energy environment because research shows that students learn faster when they are active, happy, and energized”.
Hoge is returning to Vietnam this year for a series of events in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. His book, "Effortless English: Learn To Speak English Like A Native”, is a bestseller in Vietnam.
"With the events, we show students exactly how to use the system in order to speak English fluently,” said Hoge.
During the events, Hoge teaches the Effortless English System in detail, and teaches sample lessons. Music and movement aren’t the only differences compared to traditional English classes. Effortless English is a natural approach that avoids grammar study, emphasizes listening, and primarily uses stories to train students for English speaking mastery.
Hoge developed the system in response to the failure he saw in school systems worldwide: "We tell students they must learn English, but most are unable to speak fluently after years of study. The schools are failing the students. Their teaching methods don’t work.”
With the right methods, students can be fluent in 6-12 months, according to Hoge.
The Effortless English tour of Vietnam begins November 28th in Hanoi. In additional to teaching the Effortless English System to students, this year Hoge will also train teachers and conduct a career development seminar.
Venue and ticket information will be announced soon.
